Hopefully people hear about this. I really want to be consistent, but it’s hard with no reminders. I’m going to have to put something on my calander about all this blog posting stuff so I can keep up with y’all.
WELL YES, IT’S NOVEMBER!!! And I’m finally back, hopefully for good this time.
Okay people! We’ll start off with a couple of fun pictures here.
Ah yes, Leo as a to-be-continued meme. That one was a very funny, late-at-night idea I had. I was very tired and I’d just gotten back from Chicago and it was about 3AM but I wanted to draw something before flying to Florida the very next day. (There is context, I promise. Also, Leo has a rough job! The man is TIRED and needs his sleeps)
And here’s a doodle of my sweet book three couple–haven’t drawn them in a while. If y’all are from TPS Campus, you’ll remember Misha and Evelia!! (and if you don’t remember, Misha is Javikna’s twin brother–hopefully that will connect them haha)
This is a recent picture based on a scene in Checkmate seven. It’s a very emotional hug between Sadha and Leo–who have made a grand re-entrance! I’m happy to see them again, though this scene is rather sad. I’ve gotten back into drawing as soon as I got back to college after Fall Break (which was a blur of travelling and insanity)
GOOD NEWS! I have started on the rework of CHECKMATE 2 (which some of you may know as Paradise in Check. THAT IS NOT AN OFFICIAL NAME, THIS BOOK DOES NOT HAVE AN OFFICIAL NAME YET. Which is why I’m going to go to YOU ALL, the comments, TO SUGGEST NAMES!!!
I NEED A NAME FOR THIS BOOK (and the other six as well but we’ll worry about that later) BEFORE I PUBLISH IT. So I therefore need help with name suggestions. If you have ANY IDEAS put them down in the comments. Please refrain from rude jokes and don’t say anything as a joke unless you have something actual to contribute alongside it. If your comment is rude, it will get deleted.
I DO HAVE A SNEAK PEEK FOR YOU TODAY!!!
From CHAPTER ONE of Checkmate 2:
Rhadhai squealed aloud as she reread the letter, and then again for a third time. She practically flew out of her bedroom, dashing through the hallways, unable to contain her excitement.
She threw open the door of the solar where her parents were, startling them both so much that they stood up from the sofa they were sitting on.
“What’s going on?” King Rujkai asked quickly, looking immensely surprised. “Rhadhai, what–?”
“Sadha’s coming!” Rhadhai cried, thrusting the letter into her mother’s arms before dancing over to the window.
“Sadha’s coming?” Queen Hvali asked, looking down at the letter and starting to read it. “Oh, how wonderful!” she added after reading the letter, and then handing it to her husband, who read it as well.
“They arrive within the month?” King Rujkai exclaimed. “And this letter must’ve been sent weeks ago.”
“Father, you don’t have to impress Leo and Sadha,” Rhadhai laughed. “They wouldn’t want a whole line of fancy parties and dinners, I assure you.”
“Nonsense, they are visiting royals,” King Rujkai scoffed. “They must be warmly welcomed.”
Rhadhai shook her head, but did not argue further. She turned to the window and gazed out over the lovely garden outside, smiling at the sunlight which lit up the leaves and flowers so beautifully.
“I’ll be very glad to meet with Leodonius as King at any rate. It’s been nearly a year and a half since he was crowned, it’s about time he’s visited,” King Rujkai said. His words were not meant unkindly, however, since his tone was more excited and pompous than frustrated or incensed.
“You’re sure to like him, Father,” Rhadhai said immediately. “He’s very kind.” She smiled at the thought of Sadha’s husband.
“Of course of course,” King Rujkai said, waving this away with his hand. “The more important consideration is if he is a good ally,” he added skeptically, glancing back down at the letter.
Rhadhai shook her head again and returned to looking out the window, leaning her weight on the sill.
“Goodness, what’s happened now?” said a sarcastic voice behind her. Rhadhai whipped around to see her older sister Xanthia leaning gracefully against the doorframe, her arms crossed and her eyes narrowed.
“Thia!” Rhadhai cried happily, running over to her excitedly. Despite her sister’s annoyance, she couldn’t help but share her joy. “Sadha and Leo are coming! I just got the letter–” she turned to her father, who immediately handed her the letter, and she shoved it into Xanthia’s hand.
Xanthia dropped the letter immediately, looking quite irritated indeed. “Why do you think I care about a silly piece of paper?” she asked flatly.
Rhadhai caught the letter before it hit the floor and held it tightly in her hands as she stood back upright and smiled at her sister. “It’s not a silly piece of paper–it’s Sadha’s letter! I can’t want for you to meet her–”
Xanthia cut her off with a scoff and an eye-roll, looking thoroughly annoyed at the prospect of meeting the Guyan royals.
“Xanthia, come on,” Rhadhai said, pleading with her. “Can’t you be happy for me? Just once?”
Xanthia gave her a very flat look that said “clearly not” which made Rhadhai feel deeply hurt, but she quickly mastered her emotions before they showed on her face and shrugged it off as though it was nothing.
“Mother, Father, what do you think?” she asked her parents, smiling.
“It’s wonderful, darling,” Queen Hvali said with a bright smile. King Rujkai nodded, though he looked slightly more distracted.
“I must go and begin arranging things with the servants,” Rhadhai said hurriedly, rushing to her parents.
She hugged her mother, and then her father, and then ran out of the room, making sure to step on Xanthia’s foot as she did so, pretending it was accidental. Of course it was petty, but she didn’t really care.
If Xanthia’s going to be stubborn and nasty, so am I, she thought defiantly, though deep down she knew that attitude wouldn’t last long at all.
Rhadhai pushed Xanthia out of her head, smiling as she skipped down the hallway, her footsteps light and soft.
Aaaand that’s all I have for you todaaay but we’ll have more soon enough. I need to keep writing! But I need encouragement, so if y’all could help me out in the comments, I’d appreciate it!!! <3
OKAY LIFE UPDATES…
so um I’ve had a crazy crazy time and am emotionally exhausted. I’m not going to complain about my woes here, but it hasn’t been easy lately, so prayers are appreciated.
My grandpa passed away a week and a half ago, and his funeral was a week ago. My family is still struggling, so I would appreciate it if you kept them in your prayers.
AND MY NEPHEW (Jude Michael) IS BAPTIZED! He’s an adorable cutie that I FINALLY got to meet. Even though he’s only a month old, he’s a LARGE baby. His parents (my brother and sister-in-law) are tired and a little overwhelmed with everything, but they’re makin’ it happen! Prayers for them are also appreciated.
And on that happy note, I will bid you adieu till probably Friday. I hope to post again on Friday and I hope to keep it as consistent as possible. We’ll see how it goes.
Thank you all for the support and understanding!!!
