Anquites Yraisha’s Backstory Parts 4 & 5

No official blog post right now! I’m trying to relax, but things haven’t been relaxing as much as I’d like. I’m watching Gravity Falls with my brother and sister and drawing fanart of that, so I don’t have any Checkmate content at the moment. I’ve been having a lot of fun though and it’s been a really nice break. I do need to get on that Checkmate 2 rework…

PART FOUR

Agnatus was intimidated enough not to tell Wjnya anything and stuck to Anquites’s instructions. He hung out with his friends and stopped bothering his older twin, only exchanging a “good morning” after waking up, and a “goodnight” before going to bed.

While this new arrangement was preferred, Anquites felt bad about everything he’d said to his twin and wished there were some way to reconcile. Being a single twin was not as much fun, as he found out over the following few months.

He did not mention the existence of his baby sister until his mother and father discovered for themselves. Wjnya wasn’t all that thrilled at the idea of another baby, but as there was nothing she could really do about it, she took out her anger at Anquites, and occasionally Agnatus, but only verbally when he was around.

It was a very long time before Wjnya became resigned to her fate and began preparing for the baby.

Hiffson Yraisha still stayed away from his family most of the time and did not help with any preparation for the baby.

Over the next few months, Wjnya’s harsh punishment was put on a temporary standstill. Anquites was quite relieved and he and Agnatus began to get along more splendidly as he was now having more fun without the constant fear of his mother’s wrath.

Although the thing Anquites was most excited for was to meet his baby sister. He couldn’t wait to meet her and take care of her (as he knew he’d be doing as Wjnya couldn’t be expected to do anything, of course), and show her all the beautiful things life had to offer. Unfortunately Agnatus didn’t share too much of the same sentiment, but was happy to know he would have another sibling to boss around soon enough.

Rucchio thought Anquites was even more amusing when he was excited and told him constantly that it was a good thing that he already loved his sister and wished to care for her.

“You’re going to be a good older brother, laddie,” Rucchio told him with a chuckle in the month before the baby was due.

And Anquites knew he would be. As long as he had Agnatus, Rucchio, and soon enough, his baby sister, what could ever make him unhappy?

PART FIVE

Alevtina Inya Heronia Yraisha was born to Wjnya and Hiffson Yraisha only a month later, and her older brothers Anquites and Agnatus instantly fell in love with the dark-haired, dark-eyed baby.

Though Agnatus had been reluctant at the idea of a baby sister at first, he threw everything out the window once he caught sight of her. Anquites, of course, had been waiting for so long to meet his sister, that when he held her, it seemed as though he already knew her. This feeling was further reinforced by her bright little baby smile.

Anquites held her tight to his chest and giggled in a very childish way when she reached up one of her little hands only for it to fall back fruitlessly because she couldn’t quite control its movement.

“She has magic,” he whispered to Agnatus, who stared at Alevtina in awe. “And she’s powerful too,” he added happily, cradling his baby sister gently.

He knew it would only be a few minutes before he must give his sister back to his mother when she woke up, but Anquites was determined to enjoy every second with the baby.

“She’s beautiful, Rucchio! She’s got these big, dark, sparkly eyes, and soft dark hair, and when she smiles it seems as though the world gets brighter,” Anquites told Rucchio Mankai not two days later.

Rucchio had recently made a few more friends, including Agnatus who had sworn never again to steal from his peach tree, and a few of Agnatus’s friends, who likewise were reluctant to take peaches now that they had actually met Rucchio. Respect had grown for him almost overnight, and the townspeople had stopped avoiding him. All this, he credited to Anquites, who blushingly refused any praise.

“It sounds as though she’s already got you wrapped around her little finger without even trying,” Rucchio replied with a smile.

“She has magic, Rucchio,” he said, running from where he was across the room to sit excitedly next to the older man. “I could feel her magic–it was amazing!” Anquites was smiling so brightly that Rucchio laughed.

“It’s warm, ain’t it, laddie?” he asked.

“It feels warm like fire–but Alevtina’s feels a bit more…sparky,” Anquites responded thoughtfully.

“Aye, ‘tis uncontrolled, laddie. She’s only a wee baby. She’ll be trained when she gets older and her magic won’t be as chaotic,” Rucchio said, nodding.

Anquites didn’t care if Alevtina’s magic felt uncontrolled. In his mind, there was no finer girl anywhere and he was determined to protect her with his life.

Aaaand that’s parts four and five. Put them together because they were short. Hope you enjoyed!

Alright, that’s it for now! Have a great week!
