HEAR YE HEAR YE, THE PUBLISHING DATE OF CHECKMATE IS SEPTEMBER 1ST AT 12AM (but it may not be available on Amazon for another 72 hours)!!! That’s my big announcement for this week. I’m very excited, though very annoyed since I have to apparently be 18 to publish a book on Amazon KDP. The good news is, I can also put my book on other publishing websites and not just KDP because I own the ISBN number. If that sounds like gibberish to you, then don’t pay any attention to it, unless you are trying to self publish a book.
Here’s a happy-looking Halthadius (for once) dude has had so much pain in his life, but keeps on smiling. I love him.
As for a sneak peek…This week, we have another from Checkmate, but as soon as the book becomes available on Amazon, I’m not going to do any more of those–instead moving onto sections of short stories and sneak peeks from other Checkmate books.

It was a long road, leading all the way to the steps of the white marble palace. Before they reached it, however, they passed through the fancier part of the city–towering mansions with small lawns and gardens.
Sadha spotted some large, friendly-looking dogs barking at the passing warlocks through a gate, wagging their tails. She laughed at them, catching Halthadius’s attention, but he made no comment.
Though the mansions were lovely to look at, Sadha felt that she preferred the smaller houses and bustling crowds of the part of the city nearer to the dam.
But soon enough they had reached the large road in front of the palace and the white marble staircase that led up to the large, tall, shiny wooden double doors that would open to let them into the palace.
Sadha had no words to say what she was thinking. She wasn’t sure she wanted to go up those imposing stairs.
Halthadius said something to Ruffi, who called to the warlocks and led them down the street. The pounding of the horses’ hooves faded, but Halthadius remained at the bottom of the steps with Sadha.
“Well?” Halthadius said with a smile. “After you.” He made a wide, sweeping gesture towards the staircase.
Sadha smiled at him, feeling warmth spread through her. She carefully placed her boot on the first step of white marble, feeling as though it might not support her weight, but finding that it did, she quickly began walking up the stairs, almost eager to see inside the palace, frightened and nervous though she was.
A tingling feeling spread through her fingers and her arms as she reached the top of the staircase and stood looking at the incredibly tall double doors.

LIFE UPDATE: I’ve moved into college (as of yesterday) and am in the middle of orientation. It’s pretty okay, very overwhelming, but I’m surviving, one hour at a time. I go home next weekend (For the weekend) and it’ll be lovely. I’m counting down the days. Classes start on Monday.
That’s all for this week! I’ll be back next Friday, only a couple of days before my birthday (and the publishing of Checkmate)!
